Feel The Burn : Gym Social Anxiety...


Ok so we all know that person... the person who LOVES the gym.. they are just ya know gonna do a little work out and sweat through their very expensive workout gear... they've been "feeling the burn" for a while now and it's their zone... well, I am not that person... more or less I'm thrilled to just get in the gym act like I know what I'm doing and try not to make eye contact with anyone... It's the grown up version of the lunch room ya'll....

Here I am, 32.. trying to get back into shape, I started this journey last summer and it got derailed pretty much right when my dad passed away this last fall.. see that post here. But I'm back on the wagon and I mean business, because when there is a twenty something teaching my zumba class, well, it's just a little humiliating to think that she was probably born in the 90's... deep heavy sigh.. but here I'm trying my best, shaking it in front of the mirrors which is a terrible idea.. I mean , it's a gym! We are all there to get into shape! Can you at least make us look a little thinner in that mirror.. I mean do that carnival mirror crap, whatever it takes... I don't care, just please don't make me look short , sweaty and with a few pounds to loose..

You know that moment when your like "oh heck yeah, I'm killing it on the elliptical".. Your in the zone, pumping music and you feel like a rock star... Yeah that was me, I was so in the zone and killing it... then I look up and the stinking machine is displaying my weight! Oh perfect just the motivation needed... whatever.. I've decided that I'm not going to care and eventually I'll figure out how not to look like a fish out water.. which I totally am... a flopping fish out of water.. I think they should make Spanx workout gear... I would totally buy that crap.. true story. Until that day, I'm going to try my hardest... pretend that I know what I'm doing and figure it out along the way... because I'm worth it... and I'm worth feeling good and looking good.. I'm worth all the hard work even when I'm dreaming of doughnuts and eating a banana..

Feel The Burn: Motivation & Procrastination..



Procrastination... it should be a skill... or like something you'd want to put on a resume'... I'm skilled in administrative duties, customer service and I excel in rolling over and hitting the snooze button.. For the last few weeks I've had a desire to go running... mostly because my dad used to and I think I want to give it a try.... however I've yet to put that motivation to good use and actually get myself on the road for a good run...

I'm one of those girls that gets excited about exercise because I can buy new workout gear.. I mean, I'm all about looking good and feeling good but come on? Who doesn't want another excuse for some sweet gear? That and making a good playlist... a girl can't workout without some tunes! I believe that a good workout/running mix needs to have the proper mix of good beats and embarrassing tunes from my childhood... fake cough Spice Girls... I honestly believe that if you can get out of bed in the morning then you're golden! However I've yet to master that... unless of course Starbucks is involved and then I'm out of bed with lightning speed.... for local readers if you see a 30 something woman sprinting to Starbucks you'll know I've figured out this whole procrastination thang... Oh the power of espresso & foam...

As for my "Feel the Burn" goals... well... lets just say it's still a goal and I haven't given up but it hasn't been easy... The most important thing I'm doing right now is being easy on myself.. My life has been nuts since I last posted a Feel the Burn post and I believe that in part of having a healthy lifestyle is knowing your limits... For me, I feel that maybe a good run once -twice a week is a good starting over place... Also have a healthy lifestyle is not taking yourself too seriously! And to that I'll confess that I've had this running mix for almost a year and I've yet to use it while running... there I said it... I also wonder how many of us buy yoga pants and actually use them for yoga..Deep thoughts today by yours truly...

Feel the Burn: Week 2...






It's a weird feeling "planning" to post pictures fully knowing they wont be very flattering... however I'm completely inspired by seeing change and I knew I needed a "before" picture along with my measurements if I was going to see progress... a little "visual aid".... 

I'm up to 15 on push-ups (the girly kind)... And I definitely used wine as a reward for getting through lunges... don't judge me..I officially hate jumping jacks and I've created the best workout mix on Spotify ....  I've only wanted to puke like a couple of times and I've found out that I've got muscles in my neck that I didn't know about... Apparently I'm better at Yoga than my husband.... score.. and I still can't seem to get through the crunches without grunting like a women's tennis player... Dictionary.com calls it...." to utter the deep, guttural sound characteristic of a hog... "

Well there you have it... time to get to my goals...
 In the next 7 months, (which would bring me to my 32'nd birthday).... I would like to.... 

-Weigh a muscular 115-125lbs (not sure how much I'll weigh with muscle since this will  be a first for me) 
-Fit back into my wedding dress...
-Living a consistent healthy lifestyle with exercise as my daily routine...
-Beat my sister arm wrestling.... Charity you're going down!


Each week I'll post an update and each month I'll take new measurements... so you and I can see my progress... gotta feel like a winner! Thanks for all the amazing support I couldn't do this with you!
